Cherry Cobbler

To the dismay of one of my best friends (she's also the first reader of this blog!), I didn't post any recipes for a long time - only guides and descriptions. She complained, "How will I ever be able to make them myself?" Well, I have an actual recipe today! (Happy now? M-? :P)

I made this cherry cobbler for Thanksgiving dinner. Originally, I was going to cook a cherry sauce, but I decided to go with a cranberry sauce instead. So I made a cobbler with the cherries! (And for those of you who live in a place where cherries are out of season right now, maybe you should save this recipe and wait until they are back in season... (ahem. not that I would spend over ten dollars on a small bag of cherries...))

Thanksgiving 2013 Recap!

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? As I mentioned earlier, I roasted a duck this year instead of a turkey. I tried to lighten up this year, so I used less butter and served a lot of veggies.

I cooked the entire Thanksgiving dinner by myself, and this is my fourth year doing that. I don't like being brag-y (hello certain people at school!), but I think that's quite a feat considering I'm not even an adult yet (I'm 17!).

The duck I roasted was yummy. I followed the Hungry Mouse's instructions. The skin turned out crispy, and the meat wasn't greasy. The Hungry Mouse includes instructions for making a glaze for the duck, which I followed. I didn't think it added much flavor, but I guess it did add color. When I roast a duck again, I probably would make a different glaze.

Here's the corn! I love corn!

Gobble Gobble

The best part of Thanksgiving - leftovers for breakfast the next day!

This year, I wanted to do something different, so I roasted a duck instead of the usual turkey. Although the 6 pound duck served 4 people perfectly for dinner, I wish I bought a larger duck. There wasn't any duck leftover for breakfast! (There is, however, a great duck carcass remaining for making soup!)

Thanksgiving recap post coming soon! (After I finish this slice of pie...)
