Hi guys. Want to see what I spent a few hours in the kitchen making? Yeah. Macarons! I should add, that they are messed up as well. They are hollow on the inside. And the shell is all cracked. Not pretty at all. However, for your viewing pleasure, I made the caption on the picture neon pink. That's because neon is making a comeback, or so I hear from fashion bloggers.
I made at least 50 macaron shells. Three came out pretty. The rest were duds. That frustrates me, you know?
I know I should be thankful that at least three came out right. But couldn't it have been an even number? I mean, you need two shells to make a proper macaron. That means the third one is just there for nothing.
Oh well. At least I got one macaron out of the whole batch. Maybe that's why macarons are so expensive. They are so hard to get right!
The one below is a lingonberry macaron. It's filled with lingonberry preserves (from Ikea, the land of Swedish things, of course!)
Oh well. Maybe better luck next time?

I lucked out with the first batch of macs I made and I haven't yet tried another. I'm sure I will experience your frustration soon though.

ReplyDeleteEven if it was just one macaron, it still looked delicious! I found this blog to be helpful in my macaron troubleshooting:

Awww .... don't give up. I've made them plenty of times and sometimes I still screw up ... with the same recipe, believe it or not. The duds can be crumbled and made into a crumbled meringue topping for some dessert, no waste. Cheer up! Holidays are here!
