Golden Nest Soup

Would anybody like to guess what exactly golden nest soup is?

Let me give you a clue. It has to deal with birds. Any idea? How about another clue? Um... well, it tastes sweet. No... It's not egg drop soup. 

Give up? It's really bird spit. 

Let me repeat that again: It's bird spit.

Now you're probably waiting for me to type: APRIL FOOL'S DAY! But I kid you not, this is bird spit. 

Happy (Belated) Blogiversary to me!

It's been one year of blogging! (Okay, fine. I'm posting this late. It's really one year + 10 days, for those of you counting.)

Anyway, I thought that I'd show you behind the scene photos + some disasters + pictures of food that never made it onto the blog to celebrate one whole year (plus ten days!) of blogging!

So let's start with these messed-up muffins. Shall we?

I think these weren't baked (yet). That day, I was feeling particularly adventurous and ignorant. I was like: "Who needs a recipe??? Certainly not me!" Guess who turned out to need one? Yep, me. I was trying to bake from memory and ended up adding 3 times the amount of baking powder to these muffins. They were airy, for sure. Oh, and also metallic tasting. I didn't want to eat them, and I didn't want to waste them, so I stuck them in the freezer. I think they're still in there.

A Different Perspective

Isn't this pretty? It's just a bokeh picture I shot of some cracker crumbs. In real life, it certainly wasn't pretty - just some ugly crumbs scattered on a plate. But I guess you've got to look at things through different lenses to find the beauty sometimes.
