This Annoys Me

Hi guys. Want to see what I spent a few hours in the kitchen making? Yeah. Macarons! I should add, that they are messed up as well. They are hollow on the inside. And the shell is all cracked. Not pretty at all. However, for your viewing pleasure, I made the caption on the picture neon pink. That's because neon is making a comeback, or so I hear from fashion bloggers.

I made at least 50 macaron shells. Three came out pretty. The rest were duds. That frustrates me, you know?

Caprese Sandwich

I'm sure we've all heard of Caprese Salad by now. It's quite refreshing - slices of mozzarella, slices of tomatoes, basil leaves, with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar on top. It's not very substantial though. So I came up with the idea of having a Caprese Sandwich. It's the same concept, only on a baguette. Yum!

So here's our cast of characters:

And silly me, I forgot to include the olive oil and balsamic vinegar into the picture.

La Maison du Chocolat Macarons

Okay guys. This is our last installment of the I'm-obsessed-with-macarons-from-New-York-City series. I'm keeping it short and sweet, so I don't bore ya'll to death.

The macarons are from La Maison du Chocolat. I was reading Serious Eats on the best macarons in New York City. (article here) Laduree, naturally, was first. La Maison du Chocolat ranked second. I wasn't planning to go to La Maison du Chocolat, but the name of the store somehow registered in my brain. And somehow, I stumbled upon the store. So I entered. I saw the price tag. Then I left. Then, I entered again and gave in and got a package of six.

The service was amazing. I felt very special in there. The store clerk even tied a bow for me on the macarons! (Of course, I could be totally biased since bows and pretty store interiors make me biased).

The macarons were filled with chocolate ganache. And the flavors were pistachio, orange, chocolate, raspberry, and vanilla. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify one. I have a feeling it was physalis though. They tasted impeccable, but their shells were slightly cracked. Oh - I almost forgot! They taste great with green tea as well!

Website here.

P.S. Not a sponsored post. However, I really do like their store, and I may be biased because the store attendant tied a bow in the package for me.

P.S.S. Remember how I said that I'd keep the Ladurée box forever? Well, I don't think I have enough room to keep the La Maison du Chocolat box forever. I'll keep the ribbon though. Maybe I'll wear it in my hair...
